The Head of our state Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov together with the First Ladies of the two countries visited the Itchan-Kala and Nurillaboy palace complexes in Khiva.
The city of Khiva was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1990 and celebrated its 2500th anniversary in 1997. In 2020, the city was declared a cultural capital of the Turkic world, and in 2024 - a tourist capital of the Islamic world.
Itchan-kala, known as the “open air museum”, is the only remaining city monument in Central Asia. There are more than 120 objects of architectural heritage.
Starting the tour at the Ata Darvaza Gate, the distinguished guests got acquainted with the unique complex “Kunya Ark”, Shergazi-Khan madrasah, Juma mosque, “Tosh Hovli” complex and other monuments.
In honor of the guests, Uzbek folk songs were played and a theatrical performance was shown.
Then a visit to the Nurillaboy Palace took place.
The palace-park complex was built in the early of 20th century. It includes a madrasah, more than 100 rooms and galleries. Not only leading Khiva masters, but also foreign artists-decorators who brought in elements of European modern style participated in the creation of palace apartments.
The stories about the history of Khiva and its contribution to the development of science, as well as the rich culture and art of the region made a great impression on the Kyrgyz guests.
