Following the negotiations held at the Kuksaroy residence, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov made statements to the representatives of the media.
The Head of Uzbekistan noted that the state visit of the President of Kyrgyzstan to our country has become historic and marks the beginning of a new chapter in the multifaceted Uzbek-Kyrgyz cooperation.
It was emphasized that a serious preparatory work was carried out jointly for the current summit. The next meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission, the business forum, the Rector’s Forum and the Dialogue of Generations were held in a fruitful manner. These days, events are held in the regions of our country within the framework of the Days of Culture of Kyrgyzstan.
The results of today’s negotiations, which took place in a traditionally open, constructive and friendly atmosphere, were noted with great satisfaction.
The Leaders discussed in depth all the current issues of the bilateral agenda, heard reports from deputy Prime Ministers and ministers with specific plans in the trade and economic sphere.
The main political document of the visit was the Joint Statement on further deepening and expanding the relationship of comprehensive strategic partnership, which will serve as a basis for moving further to a higher level of engagement in the future.
An agreement was reached on the establishment of an Interstate Council under the leadership of the two Heads of state.
The Leaders agreed to further develop a close political dialogue and maintain active contacts at the level of parliaments, governments, foreign policy departments, sectoral ministries, regions, business and community.
The parties will continue to support each other’s initiatives within the framework of regional and international fora, including the United Nations, SCO, CIS, the Organization of Turkic States, Consultative meetings of the Heads of states of Central Asia and other formats.
The Head of our State stressed the importance of forming a new comprehensive economic agenda for Uzbek-Kyrgyz cooperation.
To this end, the Programme for increasing mutual trade has been adopted. In addition, trade houses will be established in our capitals, and a long-term export-import portfolio will be prepared to increase the turnover of goods to US $2 billion in the coming years.
The export support tools and recognition of certificates will be introduced, a “green corridor” for horticultural and livestock products will be launched.
The Leaders separately focused on creating new growth spots in industrial cooperation, especially in industries where the economies of two countries complement each other. These projects are in the fields of energy, automotive, transport and logistics, electrical engineering, textile, agro-industrial and other industries.
Today, the important projects of construction of solar power stations in Fergana and Namangan regions, production of cars in Chüy region and textile products in Kara-Balta have been launched.
In order to support such projects, the Head of our state announced a decision to increase the authorized capital of the Uzbek-Kyrgyz Development Fund to US $200 million.
The importance of enhancing systemic interregional dialogue was noted. An agreement was reached to intensify the activities of the Council of Khokims of the border regions. A schedule of mutual visits will be prepared and the road maps for cooperation updated. The goal is to increase the portfolio of projects to US $ 1 billion by the end of the year.
The Heads of state identified new opportunities in agriculture. It is about the joint cultivation of crops, the creation of intensive gardens and agro-clusters, using futures trading tools.
The parties agreed to intensify their joint efforts to strengthen transport connectivity in the region.
- The signing of a trilateral agreement on the strategic project of construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway was a historic event, - said the Leader of our country.
An agreement was reached on the establishment of an expert group to study new projects in the field of development of transport corridors.
The two Heads of state gave priority to cooperation in the energy sector.
The parties agreed to prepare a separate Cooperation Programme for small hydro energy.
- We will take steps to expedite the adoption of the tripartite agreement on the construction of the Kambarata hydroelectric power station. This mega-project will undoubtedly serve the sustainable development of our entire region, - emphasized the President of Uzbekistan.
Active contacts and exchanges in the sphere of culture, youth, education, science and sport will be continued.
The Head of our state separately noted the opportunities for the development of tourism exchange. Direct flights from Tashkent to Bishkek and Tamchy are now established.
During the visit, an agreement was signed on the activities of sanatorium-resort complexes of Uzbekistan at Issyk-Kul. In early July, the Uzbek side launched three facilities that already receive guests. New projects for the development of tourism infrastructure are being developed.
In general, following the fruitful negotiations, a solid package of agreements in important areas of cooperation was signed.
In conclusion, the Leader of our country once again expressed his deep satisfaction with the outcome of the negotiations and the confidence that the fruitful outcome of the historic visit of the President of Kyrgyzstan to Uzbekistan will contribute to giving concrete substance to cooperation and strengthening Uzbek-Kyrgyz relations of friendship, good neighborliness and strategic partnership.
