The entrepreneur’s proposal to create gardens on undeveloped land was supported during the Head of State’s visit to the Fergana region in June 2020.
Now this agroproject is implemented in several stages. For the first two years on 450 hectares, intensive gardens were created and drip irrigation was established. Cherries and peaches of export-oriented varieties will soon begin to produce fruits.
During today’s visit, the President got familiarized with the joint venture garden “Uz-Segang”. He asked about the problems and suggestions of the entrepreneur.
The enterprise has been allocated about 2 thousand hectares of land in the Kuva district and 1.6 thousand hectares in the city of Kuvasoy.
Another 980 hectares of intensive gardens will be built on these newly developed lands over the next two years. Ecotourism and logistics centers will also be launched. Most importantly, 200 more permanent and 3 thousand seasonal jobs will appear.
Last year the enterprise collected 1,7 thousand tons of cherry, peach and pomegranate from farms and households, exported products for more than US $5 million. This year, the goal is to increase exports to US $15 million.
The enterprise is not limited to growing and exporting fruit. Advanced technologies from Italy, Turkey, South Korea and China have been introduced, and products storage, processing and packaging have been established.
The President stressed the need to increase the number of such projects and expressed his readiness to support any proposals.
There was also a presentation of agro-industrial products of the region. Further plans in the sphere were presented.
In the region there are 48 thousand 300 hectares of gardens and vineyards, of which 3 thousand 400 hectares are intensive gardens. In the past four years, 6,4 thousand hectares of gardens and 2,9 thousand hectares of vineyards have been created. Also on 1400 hectares a drip irrigation system was introduced.
This year another 3,4 thousand hectares of intensive gardens and vineyards will be created, as well as 2,4 thousand jobs.
