President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed the report on the activities and future tasks of the "BYD Uzbekistan Factory" in the Jizzakh region.
This facility was inaugurated on June 27 of this year with the participation of the head of state, becoming the first BYD factory outside of China.
Today, BYD is a global leader in the production and sales of vehicles powered by new energy sources—electric vehicles and hybrids. The company boasts one of the best technological bases and quality control systems.
The entry of such a large company into the Uzbek market is due to the attractive investment climate and policies in our country, as well as the availability of engineering personnel in the automotive sector, a manufacturing base, and raw material and logistics potential.
The chairman of the board of JSC "Uzavtosanoat" reported on the initial results of the investment project and plans for its expansion.
It was noted that an analysis of Uzbek enterprises producing plastic parts, glass, bumpers, wheels, and many other components was conducted to ensure compliance with BYD’s quality system as part of launching a full production cycle.
To meet the population's demand for passenger vehicles and to expand their range, agreements have been reached with Chinese partners to produce cars in segments B, C, and the budget segment. The first prototypes have been sent by Chinese partners to laboratories for testing under the modern standardization system.
The introduction of modern technologies and standards is also relevant not only in production but also in sales, service, and warranty support. This will prevent the release of low-quality products and ensure high standards of service and warranty for the manufactured vehicles.
Cooperation with BYD also includes training and upskilling local personnel. To attract qualified specialists to the "BYD Uzbekistan Factory" in Jizzakh, an engineering training center is planned to be established in collaboration with the Jizzakh Polytechnic Institute and the Turin Polytechnic University in Tashkent.
The presentation discussed measures to increase production volumes to set targets and accelerate the localization process.
The head of state set specific tasks to speed up production at the joint venture BYD Uzbekistan Factory, develop a strategy for further cooperation stages, ramp up production capacities to 500,000 units per year, and enter export markets.
