On July 9, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed the report on the ongoing work and the progress of implementation of investment projects in the field of geology.
The responsible officials reported on the implementation of the tasks set at the beginning of the year.
In particular, almost 3 million tons of coal have been produced over the past six months. In joint-stock company “Shargunkumir”, underground-mechanized complexes were fully put into operation, daily coal production reached 3,5 thousand tons.
In the second half of the year, it is planned to produce more than 5 million tons of coal. Of these, 1,8 million tons will be delivered to thermal power plants, more than 1 million tons to the population, 540 thousand tons to social institutions, 1,8 million tons of local coal will be put on the stock exchange.
Overall, coal production is expected to increase by 1,4 million tons this year compared to last year, and imports are expected to decrease significantly.
The industry is also implementing a number of investment projects. In particular, the Chinese company “Henan” plans to direct investments for US $400 million. As a result of this project, it is planned to mine up to 8 million tons of underground coal and enrich 5 million tons of coal per year.
Our country has a large kaolin reserve. At present, the entrepreneurs involved in the development of the deposits produce 396 thousand tons of this raw material.
Therefore, within the framework of the Geology Program for 2024-2025, the initiators will be offered 7 deposits, thanks to which the output will be increased to 2 million 700 thousand tons.
It is also planned to produce enriched kaolin in cooperation with the Turkish company “Bab Energy ve Petrol Urunleri A.S.” based on the Apartak-3 field in the Tashkent region. As a result, 40 new jobs will be created and 70 thousand tons of enriched kaolin harvested per year.
At the April 29 meeting, the Head of State paid special attention to the issue of critical minerals for the industry. After that, a joint-stock company “Uzbek Plant of Technological Metals” specializing in this field was established. 34 projects worth US $40 million, aimed at scientific and technological research and exploration were developed.
Measures are being taken to develop cooperation with foreign partners involving leading foreign companies and qualified experts. In particular, last month, as part of the visit of the President of the Republic of Korea to our country, an agreement was signed with KIGAM Institute on a US $10 million grant project for the search for rare minerals, technological research and digitization.
Information was also provided on the implementation of joint projects with the People’s Republic of China totaling US $800 million.
The Head of State gave instructions on expansion of exploration works, production of products with added value from the obtained raw materials.
