On June 25, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev got acquainted with the proposals on the development of livestock sectors.
Meat, eggs, milk and their products occupy a significant place in the daily food intake of the population. In this regard, measures are being taken to develop poultry, sheep and goat breeding, as well as to reduce food inflation. In addition, these industries provide significant employment opportunities and increase the income of the population.
For instance, in 2023, 253 projects were implemented in the poultry sector, the number of such farms reached 1,3 thousand, and 4 thousand new jobs were created. It is planned to attract US $420 million from international organizations and banks for promising projects.
At the presentation, the responsible persons provided information on the poultry development strategy and plans for the current year.
In particular, it was noted that this year poultry meat production will be increased from 700 thousand tons to 800 thousand tons, and egg production will be increased from 8,5 billion to 10 billion tons.
The most important issue in this industry is genetics. In our country, there is no first-order reproducer of meat poultry, and second-order poultry is imported from Hungary.
An American company accounts for 80 percent of the world market for poultry genetics solutions. It is planned to jointly introduce genetic technologies in poultry farming and create breeding farms.
The proposals on the introduction of a cluster system in poultry farming, the development of ready-made business projects, and their transfer to entrepreneurs were also discussed.
Additional opportunities to support the development of the industry were identified. According to this, poultry enterprises will be exempted from land tax for 5 years. The export of poultry meat will be allowed. The term of repayment of US $35 million of low-cost resources provided to entrepreneurs will be extended for 3 years.
The Head of state also gave instructions to expand fodder stocks and centralize their supply to poultry farms.
At present, there are 39 farms engaged in Karakul breeding in our country. There are 2 million heads of sheep on more than 2 million hectares of pastures in the Bukhara region. This, of course, is not well enough.
In this regard, it is proposed to raise Karakul sheep on the basis of cooperation in households. In particular, the sheep will be provided to the population, and pastures and wells will be allocated in Karakul, Karaulbazar, Gijduvan, Peshkun, Djandar and Alat districts. The area for fodder plants will be expanded.
Through such measures, the goal is to increase the number of Karakul sheep from 6 to 7 million heads.
During the President's visit to Namangan region, an instruction was given to develop goat breeding. Accordingly, pedigree goats were brought from Türkiye and Russia, and a pedigree goat breeding cluster was created.
The necessity to bring 5 thousand pedigree goats to the Republic of Karakalpakstan, Bukhara, Jizzakh, Namangan and Tashkent regions for their breeding in the same way was pointedout. This will allow increasing the number of goats up to more than 100 thousand heads in two years.
The instructions were also given to improve breeding work in goat breeding, production and export of cashmere and goat wool tweed.
