The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the President of Mongolia Ukhnaagiin Khürelsükh held talks with the participation of official delegations of the two countries.
At the beginning of the conversation, the Mongolian President expressed sincere gratitude to the Head of our state for the invitation to pay a state visit to Uzbekistan and for the cordial welcome.
The Leader of our country, warmly greeting the distinguished guest and all members of the official delegation, emphasized that the first state visit of the Mongolian President opens a new page in the development of Uzbek-Mongolian multifaceted relations.
During the talks, issues of further expansion of mutually beneficial cooperation between the countries were considered.
The intensification of contacts and exchanges at the level of governments, sectoral ministries, and agencies was noted with satisfaction. The volume of trade turnover is growing. The political consultations were fruitfully conducted in preparation for the current summit. The Mongolian Embassy in Tashkent will be officially opened these days.
The importance of strengthening the political dialogue and inter-parliamentary ties, continuing mutual support within the framework of international organizations, and intensifying contacts in the field of security was noted.
It was stressed that Mongolia was one of the first countries to support Uzbekistan's accession to the World Trade Organization fully and signed the relevant protocol.
During the talks, special attention was paid to deepening trade and economic cooperation.
The potential for increasing the mutual trade to 5-10 times in the upcoming years, primarily by expanding the nomenclature and volumes of supplies of products in demand was noted.
For this purpose, the governments were instructed to set up a joint working group to increase trade turnover, work out the issue of opening official trade houses in Ulaanbaatar and Tashkent, prepare for signing an Agreement on preferential trade, as well as make proposals on mutual simplification of conditions for access to the markets.
In addition, an agreement was reached to hold mutual industrial exhibitions in the capitals of the two countries.
The Head of our state took the initiative to adopt a medium-term industrial cooperation program. Several specific areas of cooperation were identified as priorities.
First of all, this is the partnership in the areas of geological exploration, development and processing of raw material resources, with the organization of personnel training in this sphere.
Moreover, the comprehensive cooperation will be established in agriculture and related sectors. In this direction, there are already plans to organize large livestock complexes in Karakalpakstan, Namangan and other regions.
The proposals were prepared for the import of meat and its processed products from Mongolia, as well as supplies in the opposite direction of poultry meat, fruit and vegetables and other agricultural products from Uzbekistan.
The intentions to create a manufacturing cluster to produce meat products meeting halal standards with export to the countries of the region were supported.
The projects on deep processing of wool and leather with the output of ready products, procurement of fruit and vegetable products were also proposed.
It was noted that partnerships between research institutes should be developed in these areas, including in the field of livestock breeding.
The parties also agreed to facilitate the implementation of private sector projects and promotion of business initiatives.
Today, the Leaders of Uzbekistan and Mongolia will hold a meeting with the representatives of business circles of the two countries, who have prepared new project proposals.
These include opening a modern diagnostic center in Tashkent based on advanced technological solutions, projects in light industry, digitalization, pharmaceuticals and others.
The active work of the Business Council being set up and the regular holding of joint business forums should facilitate these plans.
The major agreements on mutual investment protection and taxation principles will be adopted to support cooperation projects.
To strengthen the transport interconnectivity, important agreements on air and road transport are being adopted during the visit. The issue of the establishment of direct air services between the two capitals will be studied.
It was also proposed to conduct a joint analysis of the most efficient, shortest transport corridors, including those passing through Kyrgyzstan and China.
To effectively promote the entire economic agenda, an agreement was reached to hold the first meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission at the level of Deputy Prime Ministers.
An important emphasis was paid on strengthening cultural and humanitarian ties and exchanges.
It was noted that the citizens of Mongolia, who have studied in Uzbekistan's higher educational institutions over the years, act as a true bridge of friendship and partnership.
An agreement was reached to establish academic exchanges between leading universities, as well as to resume the study of talented Mongolian students in Uzbekistan based on grants.
A joint concert of masters of Arts with the participation of the famous Mongolian orchestra "Morin Huur" will be held in Tashkent tomorrow.
To bring the peoples of the two countries closer together, it was proposed to prepare a program of humanitarian cooperation and to hold cross-cultural days next year in Tashkent and Ulaanbaatar.
The importance of developing tourist exchanges based on the adoption of joint programs and products, taking into account the visa-free regime in force between the two countries was noted.
In addition, cooperation will be established in the field of ecology and environmental protection, sports, and exchanges in the area of youth.
Following the talks, it was instructed to prepare a roadmap for timely and quality implementation of the reached agreements.
The Head of our state accepted President Ukhnaagiin Khürelsükh's invitation to pay a return visit to Mongolia to continue the fruitful dialogue.
