President Shavkat Mirziyoyev was informed about the work carried out in the spiritual and educational sphere.
The overarching priority of the transformation of multinational Uzbekistan is the comprehensive protection of the rights and freedoms of all its citizens. Freedom of religion is an inalienable right. Therefore, all conditions are created in our country so that believers can perform rituals, observe religious traditions.
It is worth emphasizing that the policy of New Uzbekistan in this sphere is widely recognized not only among our people but also among the international community.
While in the first years of Independence of Uzbekistan the number of compatriots who were awarded the holy pilgrimage to Mecca and Medina could be counted on fingers, these days more than 15 thousand Uzbeks perform a sacred rite.
Congratulations of Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to our people on the holiday of Eid Al-Adha, his conversation with the Chairman of the Muslim Board of Uzbekistan, Mufti Sheikh Nuriddin Kholiknazar about the pilgrimage of our compatriots became one of the bright pages of the Hajj season this year.
In a short period, Uzbekistan has established a comprehensive system of training qualified personnel in religious education. In order to study and popularize the rich scientific heritage of our scientists research centers began to operate. Examples are the International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan, Mir Arab Higher Madrasah, the Hadith School, the international scientific research centres of Imam Bukhari, Imam Termizi, Imam Maturidi. Large-scale renovation and improvement of the Imam Bukhari memorial complex is underway.
At today’s meeting, the need for more research and awareness raising on the work of these great thinkers among the population, especially young people, was emphasized. Because they are the true meaning of Islam, the enlightening message of the Muslim religion. This is particularly true at this time, in our turbulent times, when various forces around the world are trying to distort the essence of religion and mislead young people.
A great role of those who now make a pilgrimage in the sacred Mecca in this work was noted. Recently, the pilgrims made an address expressing their readiness to contribute to the spiritual education of the younger generation in their districts and makhallas.
Also at the meeting, the Head of State stressed that the Center of Islamic civilization should play an important role in these processes, the activity of which will serve to wide participation of our people and foreign guests to the priceless heritage of ancestors, promotion of the ideas of enlightened Islam. At present, scholars-historians and theologians are working to give new content to the Centre’s activities.
The information on further plans of the center’s activities was heard.
