President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the Palace of Cinema.
The building of the Palace of Cinema underwent major renovations in 2021. The large and small halls, the summer cinema, and the conference hall received modern equipment. At present, the palace can accommodate 3,000 spectators.
The President first visited the Museum of Cinematic Arts of Uzbekistan. The museum was founded in 1972 and previously functioned as a museum archive. Its collection includes more than fifty thousand historical objects, costumes, photographs and film reels.
Now the museum has been moved to the Palace of Cinema and is open to visitors. The first floor showcases the history of Uzbek cinema, its founders and the achievements of recent years. The second floor features costumes from historical films and information about the lives and activities of prominent filmmakers. It is noteworthy that anyone who comes here to watch a film cannot leave without learning about the history of domestic cinema.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev spoke with directors, actors, film scholars, and responsible officials in the field.
“It can be said that in recent years our national cinema is experiencing a revival. High-quality, modern films have been produced. I would like to express my gratitude for this. At the same time, I wonder what more we can do to develop cinematography? If we want to glorify our history to the whole world and increase the national pride of our people, we must do it primarily through film”, said the President.
During the meeting, the project of the "Living History" film series, developed on the initiative of the President, was presented.
This strategic program, planned for 2024–2030, will cover a wide period of time, from ancient times to the most recent history of the country. The themes of the films to be produced will be diverse and broad.
In particular, films will be produced about the national hero Shirak, who lived in the 6th century BC, the legendary statesman Alp Er Tunga, the great commander Amir Timur and the Timurid dynasty, the still insufficiently studied Sheybanids, the Karakalpak poet Ajiniyaz, great scientists, fighters for national independence, and famous cultural figures.
In addition to our filmmakers, foreign partners from countries such as Spain, Germany, Hungary, Russia, Belarus, Turkey, Japan, China, Korea, India, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Tajikistan will participate in this project.
“Of course, we are all well aware that it will require considerable financial resources and hundreds of talented specialists to implement this program and these ideas. Despite all the difficulties, we will solve the financial issues of this grand historic project. Because this program will give a powerful impetus to a deep understanding of our glorious past, on the basis of which we will move boldly into the future, nurture true patriots and lay the foundations of the Third Renaissance”, Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted.
During the meeting, the filmmakers expressed their suggestions for the creation of these films and the development of the field.
