On May 1, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received a delegation from the Republic of Azerbaijan led by Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov, who arrived in our country to participate in the Tashkent Investment Forum.

At the beginning of the meeting, Minister Mikayil Jabbarov conveyed to the Head of Uzbekistan sincere greetings and best wishes from the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.

The issues of further development and deepening of Uzbek-Azerbaijani relations of strategic partnership, as well as expanding practical cooperation within the previously reached agreements, were discussed.

Last year, mutual trade turnover increased by 27 percent, and since the beginning of this year, it has increased by a further 15 percent.

Cooperation projects are being implemented in the automotive industry, energy, agriculture, electrical engineering, textiles, tourism and other sectors.

The importance of further increasing the project portfolio, including attracting funds from the Joint Investment Company, has been emphasized.

In order to carefully prepare the economic agenda for the upcoming high-level meetings, another session of the Intergovernmental Commission and the second Forum of the Regions of the two countries will be held in the near future.

Views were also exchanged on regional cooperation issues. The main outcomes of today's trilateral meeting of the Ministers of Economy and Energy of Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan were also highly appreciated.
