The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon continued negotiations in an expanded format with the participation of official delegations of the two countries.
They discussed in detail the issues of further deepening of Uzbek-Tajik relations of strategic partnership and alliance, primarily in the political, trade and economic, transport and communications, cultural and humanitarian spheres.
“In recent years, the spirit of mutual trust and support, friendly relations between the countries have reached an unprecedented scale as a result of active dialogue at the highest level," Shavkat Mirziyoyev stressed.
At the same time, there is a huge untapped potential and great opportunities for further development of comprehensive cooperation.
“In order to implement the historic Treaty on Allied Relations signed today, it is necessary to increase the effectiveness of contacts at all levels - parliaments, governments, foreign policy agencies, ministries and regions," the Head of our state said.
The importance of developing cross-border trade mechanisms and trade infrastructure to increase trade turnover to US$2 billion was emphasized.
The Presidents welcomed the firm agreements reached on joint implementation of important projects in the energy, electro-technical, metallurgical, mining, textile, pharmaceutical, agro-industrial and other sectors, which will stimulate the development of deep industrial cooperation.
The sides discussed the issues of continuing the constructive and mutually beneficial dialogue on water use.
The President of our country stressed the importance of effective use of the great potential of interregional cooperation, full implementation of the agreements and understandings reached during the visit.
The strategic direction is determined by interaction in the field of transport and transit traffic. The Presidents supported the expansion of mutually beneficial cooperation in this area and the creation of favourable conditions for the development of air and rail transport, increasing the volume of transit cargo transport.
The sides agreed to support more actively cultural and humanitarian exchanges.
The Parties emphasized the importance of close contacts in countering modern challenges and threats and promoting socio-economic projects in Afghanistan.
The willingness to continue mutual support within regional and international structures was underlined.
During the meeting, the reports were heard from the Deputy Prime Ministers, Ministers of Transport, Energy and Agriculture.
Following the talks, the Heads of State instructed the preparation of a joint roadmap and the establishment of mechanisms for the effective implementation of the agreements reached.
