The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has arrived in Dushanbe on a state visit.
The Uzbek President was met at the capital's airport by the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon.
In honour of the distinguished guest, a guard of honour was lined up and the national flags of both countries were displayed. Representatives of youth and creative groups from Tajikistan also took part in welcoming the President of Uzbekistan.
Upon his arrival, the President of our country visited Dusti Square (Square of friendship) and laid a wreath at the monument of Ismoil Somoni.
It should be noted that during the summit talks, the leaders will discuss issues of further deepening of Uzbek-Tajik relations of strategic partnership and alliance, as well as exchange views on interaction at the international and regional levels.
The programme of the visit envisages joint participation in a concert by masters of the arts of the two countries, as well as a visit to an exhibition of goods marked "Made in Uzbekistan".
A number of events have already taken place within the framework of the state visit, including a women's forum, the Days of the Cinema of Uzbekistan, a conference of intellectuals, scientists and historians, a festival of national dishes and tourism potential.
The visit was preceded by a Rectors' Forum in Tashkent and a Business Forum in Dushanbe.
