President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the activities of the livestock cluster “Jizzax Organic” in Zaamin District.
The enterprise, worth 200 million dollars, was launched five years ago. The large complex includes both open enclosures and covered hangars.
During the first stage, 4,000 head of Angus and Hereford cattle were imported from European countries and the United States, along with 2,000 Dorper sheep from Australia.
Such complexes play a crucial role in ensuring an abundance and affordability of essential food products such as meat and milk in our country. The “Jizzax Organic” cluster can accommodate 10,000 head of cattle and 4,000 sheep, producing up to 5,000 tons of meat annually. The facility provides employment for 750 people.
All production processes at the enterprise have been digitized. Water-saving technologies have been implemented on 1,300 hectares of arable land. Modern equipment has been imported from Australia, Germany, and the United States for this purpose. The cluster’s machinery park consists of about 200 units of equipment worth 10 million dollars. Additionally, conditions have been created for breeding and genetic work.
A total of 12,000 hectares have been allocated for fodder production. Efforts are also underway to restore the fertility of lands that have remained unused for decades. Special attention is given to the use of organic fertilizers and crop rotation.
The Head of State was presented with new projects and plans for the cluster. It was noted that with an investment of 28 million dollars, the aim is to process 20,000 tons of milk and 5,000 tons of meat annually. An additional 2,000 hectares will be used for fodder production with the use of sprinkler irrigation.
Livestock breeding currently emphasizes the importance of pedigree cattle. The current percentage of pedigree cattle bred by the population is 10%. Therefore, it is important to expand activities related to artificial insemination and the improvement of local breeds.
Considering this, the cluster plans to establish a breeding and procurement system for Angus cattle in 15 mahallas of Zaamin, Zarbdor, and Yangiobod.
Responsible officials have been given instructions to include opportunities for livestock breeders in the package of financial services provided to mahallas through banks and to increase feed production.
Hence, the President’s visit to Jizzakh region concluded.
