President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the agrologistics complex of the company “BMB Holding” in Jizzakh region, Sharaf-Rashidov district.
Our country has high potential in the export of agricultural products. Agrologistics centers, which cover all stages of collection, storage, processing and sale of crops, play an important role in this.
Among them is the complex of the company “BMB Holding,” which was launched in December last year. The total cost of the project exceeds US$57 million. The complex has the capacity to store 10,000 tons and process 8,000 tons of agricultural products per year. It employs 180 people on a permanent basis.
The Head of State inspected the work process at the enterprise and the products ready for export.
Fruits and vegetables are delivered to the logistics center from Jizzakh region and neighboring regions. Last year, the agro-cluster of the “BMB Holding” system concluded contracts with more than 1,200 farmers for the supply of over 52,000 tons of crops.
This year, building on the experience of Saykhunabad, cooperation will be established with 2,485 households. Agricultural products will also be grown on approximately 14,5 thousand hectares of land, involving around 4,000 farms. As a result, the cluster system will create over 32,000 seasonal jobs.
The complex is equipped with phytosanitary and sanitary-epidemiological laboratories, a customs office, a bank branch and dormitories. The laboratory is equipped with 34 modern instruments from Russia, China, the USA and Germany. Quarantine control of products is also carried out here. It is important to note that the phytosanitary certificates issued here are recognized in 119 countries.
Such capabilities expand the company’s export potential and geographical reach. To date, products worth nearly US$43 million have been sent to Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Russia and China. This year’s export volume is expected to reach US$58 million.
The President emphasized the need to create similar agrologistics centers in other regions and to allocate them specific fields and makhallas, which will provide entrepreneurs with a sufficient amount of raw materials and the population with a guaranteed supply of products.
It is worth noting that the company, founded in 2017, currently includes 4 joint ventures and 26 subsidiaries, implementing investment projects totaling almost US$1.5 billion.
In particular, the Uzbek-Italian joint venture “BMB Opera Zafferano” has established a 400 hectare saffron plantation. The saffron produced is USDA ORGANIC certified and is exported to Italy, Austria, the Netherlands, France, South Korea, Saudi Arabia and other countries. It has also received FDA approval to enter the US market.
Over the next three years, investment in the project will increase to 80 million euros, and saffron production will rise from 1.8 to 20 tons. The Head of State approved these plans and gave instructions to increase the area under cultivation and export of saffron.
