During his visit to Jizzakh region, the President of Uzbekistan participated in a ceremony dedicated to the launch of new projects in the industrial and energy sectors.
At the beginning of his speech, the Head of State congratulated everyone on the upcoming holiday of Ramadan and wished success to the new initiatives in the name of the well-being of our people.
As it is known, the development of the industry depends on the stability of the energy sector. Therefore, these two sectors are developing harmoniously. In 2023 alone, 4,600 industrial enterprises were launched in our country. The industrial sector grew by 6%, and the production value amounted to 656 trillion Uzbek soums.
Seven large thermal, solar and wind power plants with a total capacity of 2.4 gigawatts have been connected to the grid. In addition, 31 power plants with a total capacity of 12 gigawatts are being built with foreign investment totaling US$14 billion. This year, 2.6 gigawatts of capacity will be connected in Navoi, Bukhara, Namangan, Tashkent and Kashkadarya. Overall, thanks to the development of alternative energy sources, the share of “green” energy in the generation will reach 30% this year.
We are carrying out these works with the aim of creating decent living conditions for our people and ensuring uninterrupted energy supply for the development of our industry. This has already become a good tradition in all regions, said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
There are also many similar projects in Jizzakh region. One of them is the construction of an industrial zone specializing in metallurgy in Gallaaral district. Seven projects with a total value of US$500 million will be implemented there. In particular, there are plans to produce rebar, steel balls, pipes, car bodies and special equipment. A total of 5,000 jobs will be created.
The second project is the construction of a solar power plant in Farish district in partnership with Chinese companies “China Poly Group” and “China Electric”. The 500-megawatt plant, worth US$350 million, will be able to produce 1.1 billion kilowatt-hours of green energy per year, improving the energy supply for 450 thousand households. The first 200 megawatts will be connected to the grid by the end of this year.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev pressed a symbolic button to launch the construction of these two complexes.
In the coming years, additional thermal, wind and solar power plants with a total capacity of 1,660 megawatts will be built in Sharaf-Rashidov, Farish and Gallaaral districts, improving the living standards of the population and boosting economic development.
