On April 5, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held a meeting in Khiva.
The issues of further strengthening of Uzbek-Kazakh relations of strategic partnership and alliance and expansion of comprehensive practical cooperation were discussed.
Special attention was paid to the issues of acceleration of cooperation projects, realization of investment agreements and trade contracts in accordance with previously reached high-level agreements.
The Presidents listened to the reports of Deputy Prime Ministers and Co-Chairmen of the Working Groups under the Intergovernmental Commission on the Promotion of Joint Projects in areas such as engineering, energy, transport and logistics, mining, textile, food and other industries.
The Presidents gave specific instructions on increasing trade turnover, forming a long-term program of industrial cooperation, as well as implementing infrastructure projects in the fields of transport and energy.
The importance of starting practical work on the establishment of the International Center for Industrial Cooperation this year and expanding the activities of the joint foreign trade company was noted.
The issues of the development of humanitarian and tourism ties, and holding joint events in the field of culture, education and sports with the participation of youth were discussed in detail.
The sides exchanged views on regional issues, in particular, rational use of water resources, deepening the cooperation within the framework of the Consultative Meeting of the Heads of Central Asian States, as well as the development of the situation in Afghanistan.
The schedule of upcoming joint events in bilateral and multilateral formats was reviewed.
The meeting was held in a traditionally open, warm and friendly atmosphere.
