On March 27, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the US delegation led by Senator Steve Daines and Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, Congressman Mike Rogers.
The issues of further strengthening the strategic partnership and developing multi-faceted interaction between Uzbekistan and the United States were discussed.
The high level of bilateral cooperation achieved in recent years, ongoing active contacts and mutual visits were noted with particular satisfaction. Last September, the first Summit of the Leaders of Central Asian countries and the United States in the C5+1 format and productive business meetings were successfully held in New York City.
The President of Uzbekistan highly appreciated interparliamentary interaction, in particular the work of the Caucus on Uzbekistan in the US Congress.
Mutual trade turnover is increasing, which has grown by 30 per cent by the end of 2023. The number of American companies operating successfully in the Uzbek market is also growing. An example of this is the activities of Air Products, which is implementing investment projects worth over US$10 billion in Uzbekistan.
Special attention was paid to the continuation of active, practical interaction with the states of Montana, Alabama, Washington, California and Texas, represented by American legislators.
Promising areas of cooperation include education, agriculture, digital technologies, mining, green energy, pharmaceuticals, food industry and others.
It was agreed to organize business missions of American regions to Uzbekistan.
There was also an exchange of views on current international and regional issues, including the situation in Afghanistan.
