On March 25, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev arrived in Namangan region.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev first visited the "Gavhar Group" in Yangi-Namangan district. It can industrially produce 1200 kilograms of jewellery a year.

Our country's jewellery has been known since ancient times. In particular, there were families in Namangan who passed on this art from generation to generation. However, due to the lack of necessary conditions and difficulties in buying raw materials, many jewellers stopped their activities. Those who remained continued to work by hand.

The Presidential Decree of May 18, 2019 "On measures to accelerate the development of the jewellery industry in the Republic of Uzbekistan" opened wide opportunities for representatives of this sector. In particular, jewellery manufacturers were granted the right to purchase scrap precious metals and gemstones and their products from mining and metallurgical enterprises and the population. The attraction of technologies and specialists from abroad was supported.

Such attention and opportunities gave confidence to jewellers. In particular, a limited liability company "Gavhar Group" was established. Modern equipment was brought from Turkiye, Italy, USA and Germany, and in 2022 the company started its activities.

Today the enterprise has mastered the production of 10 thousand types of jewellery. In cooperation with foreign partners the production of high quality gold cases for watches was established. In 2023, 270 kg of products were manufactured.

In addition, the production of custom-made products of any shape using 3D modelling has been established.

Deferring the purchase of gold on the bullion market is an important asset in ensuring working capital adequacy and continuity of production.

Another important aspect is that the company has established a working relationship with local jewellers. As a result, those who previously worked informally have come out of the shadows and the number of jobs has increased. The company employs more than 100 people. Young people are learning the trade here.

The Head of State spoke to jewellers who work in the factory.

- 100 tonnes of gold are mined in our country every year. It is allowed to sell gold to entrepreneurs in instalments. In fact, there is no such possibility in other countries. However, we have only 6% of gold processing. Countries that do not produce gold export more jewellery than we do. We are a bit behind in this area. So we are creating additional conditions for production. And this is just the beginning. We will continue to develop this industry, - said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

There was an exchange of views with Turkish businessmen, and issues of improving legislation in this field were discussed.

The Head of state also got acquainted with the products of the limited liability company "Mehmash".

This company produces 20 thousand tonnes of screws and 18 thousand tonnes of paper rolls with an export potential of US$6 million. It employs 700 people.

Instructions were given on how to increase the volume of production and export of fasteners used in the automotive industry, thus increasing the number of jobs.
