On March 19, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited a foundry-mechanical plant in Tashkent.
The plant, which covers an area of about 40 hectares, was not fully operational and was not profitable. In this regard, it was transferred to the management of the joint-stock company “O’zbekiston temir yo’llari” and was modernized in 2013. In recent years, the localization of production has been significantly expanded, increasing the economic efficiency of the plant.
Today, the enterprise can produce 1,2 thousand and repair 1,5 thousand freight cars per year.
The factory has a popular range of products. In particular, six types of freight cars are produced, including semi-open, closed, with a long base, as well as for the transport of grain, cement and mineral fertilizers.
Foundry is a key industry, one might say, the “heart” of heavy industry. The foundry was built at the expense of $120 million, capable of producing 26 thousand tons of products per year. All types of spare parts used in railway operation and rolling stock repair are cast here.
The Head of state got acquainted with the products produced there.
Our main goal today is to create more jobs. For instance, this year, we want to build 100 thousand houses in our country. When will they make people happy? When there are jobs near the house. Therefore, in makhallas, as in the case of private plots, economic projects will be developed taking into account the proximity to apartment buildings. Those who are out of work will be helped to find employment. Such factories play an important role in it, - said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
It was noted that it is necessary to increase the production of goods for construction, municipal and other industries, to acquaint entrepreneurs with these opportunities and to increase the number of orders. This, in turn, contributes to employment creation in related industries.
The plant operates 26 workshops, including car-building, mechanical assembly, wheel, foundry, repair, pressing, blank and complete workshops. The President inspected the manufacturing process in these workshops.
In 2018-2023 the enterprise implemented a program of localization of production of 100 types of products. In 2023, production totaling 267 billion Uzbek soums was produced, 170 wagons and spare parts worth $10 million were exported. This year it is planned to increase the volume of exports to $15 million.
International standards of ISO 9001 quality management system and ISO 50001 energy management system are implemented at the plant.
