Oksana Chusovitina, a three-time world artistic gymnastics champion and World Cup winner, is the pride of our country. She is listed in the Guinness World Records as the only gymnast to have participated in eight Olympic Games.
The athlete's success and dedication serve as an example and motivation for children. The Presidential Decree of March 14, 2022, on the establishment of the Oksana Chusovitina Gymnastics School has further expanded the opportunities for young people to realize their potential.
Today, the Head of State visited the school and acquainted himself with the conditions and process of training.
The aim of the educational institution is to prepare athletes of international level for national teams, to organize training processes at the level of international standards with the involvement of highly qualified specialists, and to provide continuous professional development for coaches and gymnasts. The three-storey modern building provides all the necessary conditions.
On the first floor, there are the main and training halls, a gym, a medical room and a canteen. The upper floors house a 165-bed dormitory, a hotel, computer science and spirituality classes. The school is furnished with equipment from Germany.
The school is designed for 105 students in grades 5-11. Today, 91 children are studying there. They are taught two foreign languages. Young gymnasts attend general education classes in the neighbouring school №175.
Last year, Chusovitina’s students won 4 medals at international competitions in artistic and rhythmic gymnastics, 6 medals at national tournaments and 24 medals at competitions between sports schools.
The main thing is that the gymnasts live, study and train in one place. In general, this sports school will become a unified educational and training base for gymnasts in the republic.
There was also a meeting with representatives of the sports sphere and regional leaders via video link.
Why are we paying so much attention to this field and creating schools? Gymnastics is the basis of all sports. Footballers, boxers and anyone, who cares about their health should do gymnastics. If we can involve young people in sports along with the development of the economy and education, our country will have a healthy generation, a healthy nation, - the President said.
In this regard, the issues of the widespread introduction of gymnastics starting from kindergartens and the organization of selecting talented athletes from this stage, the creation of two gymnastics schools in each region were discussed.
Instructions were given to create all the necessary conditions for the decent preparation of the athletes and their coaches, who will take part in the Olympic Games in France this year.
