On January 30, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev laid flowers at the foot of the monument to Islam Karimov in Tashkent.

There is no future without historical memory. We gratefully remember the historical merits of the First President in gaining Uzbekistan’s independence and building the state.

Thanks to the attention of the Head of our state Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the memory of the First President was immortalized and a mausoleum was built for him. It has become a tradition to celebrate his birthday on January 30.

Commemorating the great sons of the Homeland is an essential virtue of our people. Today’s memorial event also embodied this virtue. Ayats from the Quran were recited and duas were offered. Islam Karimov’s merits in protecting the interests of our people and his human qualities were highlighted.

The ceremony, which was held at the Islam Karimov Scientific and Enlightenment Memorial Complex, was attended by the members of the Chambers of the Oliy Majlis, representatives of the Presidential Administration and the Government, scientific and cultural figures and the city community.

Flowers were also laid at the foot of the monuments to the First President in the cities of Samarkand and Karshi.
