On January 25, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting with Huang Kunming, the Secretary of the Guangdong Provincial Party Committee.

Guangdong is one of China’s most developed provinces, accounting for about 10% of the country’s GDP and leading in the PRC. The province is also the largest economic partner of Uzbekistan‘s regions.

During the meeting, the practical aspects of the expanding mutually beneficial cooperation with the province, primarily in high-tech industries were considered.

Fruitful negotiations held the day before with Chinese President Xi Jinping, which supported the further expansion of interregional contacts, were noted with satisfaction.

Special attention was paid to the deepening of industrial cooperation, including through the establishment of specialized high-tech parks in our country’s regions for leading Guangdong companies.

In this context, the important role of Guangdong Province in the activities of the Council of Regions of Uzbekistan and China, which was agreed upon at the summit held the previous day, was noted.

The interest in increasing cooperation with the provincial flagship companies such as «Huawei», «BYD», «ZTE» and others was emphasized.

In order to strengthen humanitarian contacts and business exchanges, the issues of cooperation in the field of IT education and the introduction of direct flights were considered.
