On January 15, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev was briefed on the progress made in geology and plans for the future.
Geology is of strategic importance in providing resources for our country's growing economy. In recent years, 1 trillion Uzbek soums per year have been allocated to this sector, and the necessary conditions are being created. As a result, 31,000 square kilometres of new sites have been explored.
The opportunities created for the private sector are attracting investors to develop the deposits. Today, the industry is implementing investment projects worth $1.7 billion.
At the same time, there are many untapped opportunities. Deposits and the scale of their development can be expanded.
The presentation included information on future projects and plans for the current year.
The head of state listened to the report and identified the tasks to be implemented in the short and long term. The importance of strategic planning and further development in the sphere was emphasized.
Measures to increase the volume of exploration activities and effective exploitation of identified reserves were discussed.
Tasks were set to further attract foreign technologies and investments to the sphere in order to increase the efficiency of exploration and mining.
The need to increase the volume of coal production by 22%, taking into account the needs of the population, social sphere and industries, was noted. The issue of enrichment waste treatment based on best practices was also addressed.
