On January 2, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev chaired a meeting on issues of defence construction and development of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The issues of further improving the combat readiness and combat capability of the troops, providing them with modern weapons and military equipment, modernization of existing weapons, military-patriotic education of the youth of the country, as well as social security of servicemen, members of their families and veterans of the army were discussed.
The Minister of Defence presented reports on the activities of command bodies, associations, formations and units, as well as higher military educational institutions, with a view to increasing the effectiveness of combat, moral and psychological training of the troops.
During the period under review, special attention was paid to the military-patriotic education of young people. In particular, more than 24 thousand events were held in makhallas, and more than 5 thousand young people participated in the "Schools of Courage" training camp.
The practice of organizing clubs and groups for children and young people from families included in the "Iron Book" in the military cities was introduced, and they were placed at the disposal of the brigade and district commanders.
There were also more than 580 operational and combat training events, involving over 35,000 military servicemen of the Armed Forces.
The social protection of soldiers and their families has been strengthened.
Thanks to the measures taken, the effectiveness of combat training of the troops has been increased, and the professionalism of the servicemen, their morale and psychological training have been significantly increased.
A new system of military personnel training based on advanced technologies has been introduced into the activities of military universities.
In addition, special attention has been paid to the digitalization of the military sphere. The gradual introduction of modern automated systems of troop control and the improvement of communication systems are being carried out.
The importance of continuing to equip the National Army with modern weapons and military equipment and improving the defense and industrial complex was highlighted at the meeting.
The issues of organizing and holding high-level events to celebrate the 32nd anniversary of the formation of the Armed Forces and the Day of the Defender of the Homeland on January 14, were also considered.
Following the meeting, the Head of state gave some instructions to further improve the activities of the Armed Forces and improve the country’s defense capability.
