On December 26, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev took part in an informal CIS summit in St. Petersburg.

The event was attended by the Russian President Vladimir Putin, the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov, the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan.

During the meeting, the main results of multilateral cooperation in 2023 were summarized and priority tasks for the coming year were discussed. The sides exchanged views on the prospects for the development of multifaceted relations within the CIS framework and discussed topical issues on the regional agenda.

It should be noted that in recent years our country has actively participated in the activities of the Commonwealth.

Uzbekistan has joined more than 20 sectoral cooperation bodies and 24 major agreements in priority areas and industries.

The portfolio of industrial cooperation projects with companies from the CIS countries has exceeded $30 billion and covers almost all sectors.

The President of Uzbekistan stressed the need to radically expand practical interaction and increase the effectiveness of existing institutional mechanisms of cooperation within the CIS.
