On December 1, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with Ibrahim Thiaw, the Assistant Secretary-General and Executive Secretary of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification, on the sidelines of the Climate Change Summit.

The fruitful outcome of the 21st session of the UNCCD Committee for the Review of the Implementation of the Convention (CRIC 21), held in Samarkand last month with the participation of delegations from more than 130 countries and the heads of relevant international organisations, was noted with great satisfaction.

The importance of jointly promoting the adoption of the Samarkand Declaration on Dust and Sand Storms at the Convention Conference in Saudi Arabia in December 2024 was noted.

Opportunities for scientific cooperation and research were explored at the Central Asian Green University in Tashkent.
