On November 27, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev attended a ceremony to launch the projects to connect a modern combined cycle power plant with a capacity of 1,500 megawatts in Syrdarya region to the power grid and the construction of a pilot production facility for "green hydrogen" in Tashkent region, which are being implemented jointly with the leading Saudi company ACWA Power.
It is worth noting that the Syrdarya Thermal Power Plant project, with a total cost of $1.1 billion, will meet the electricity needs of more than 3 million households and hundreds of industrial enterprises.
It will also create the region's first green hydrogen production facility. In the first stage of this pilot project, 3,000 tonnes of hydrogen will be produced in our country, which will then be processed into mineral fertilizers, and a wind farm with a capacity of 52 megawatts will be built.
In total, major energy projects worth $7.5 billion are being successfully implemented in Uzbekistan involving ACWA Power.
The launch of these projects will contribute to the creation of 25 gigawatts of renewable energy capacity by 2030, saving 4.5 billion cubic metres of gas and reducing harmful emissions into the atmosphere by 3 million tonnes.
