On November 8, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with the President of the Republic of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who arrived in Uzbekistan to attend the 16th Summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization.
The issues of further expansion of multifaceted cooperation and deepening of the comprehensive strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Türkiye were discussed.
The ongoing intensive mutual contacts and exchanges were noted with satisfaction. Trade turnover, frequency of direct flights and tourist flows are growing.
Major investment projects are being implemented in Uzbekistan with the participation of leading Turkish companies. Since the beginning of the year, more than $500 million in direct capital investments have been attracted and over 200 new enterprises have been established.
The importance of accelerating joint projects and programs in the fields of trade, industry, innovation, energy, transport, education, culture, tourism and others was stressed.
The schedule of upcoming events was reviewed, including preparations for the next meeting of the Uzbekistan – Türkiye Strategic Cooperation Council.
The Leaders exchanged views on the current issues on the regional agenda.
