As part of the summit programme of the Economic Cooperation Organization, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held talks with a delegation from the Islamic Republic of Pakistan led by Prime Minister Anwar ul-Haq Kakar.
They discussed current issues of further deepening of bilateral cooperation, mainly in the fields of trade, economy, investment and transport communications.
Satisfaction was expressed with the active contacts at various levels. The volume of mutual trade and transport is growing, with an increase of 40% since the beginning of the year. Cooperation projects are being implemented in the textile, chemical, pharmaceutical and other sectors, and 20 joint ventures have been established.
The importance of promptly adopting the 2024-2025 industrial cooperation programme, removing trade barriers and creating favourable conditions for the development of business relations was stressed.
Special attention was paid to the practical implementation of the Trans-Afghan Railway construction project.
There was also an exchange of views on the issues of the regional agenda.
