Following the negotiations held in the city of Samarkand, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the President of the French Republic Emmanuel Macron issued a Joint Statement.
The document highlights the intention of the two countries to elevate their relations to the level of a strategic partnership.
It assesses the current state of bilateral cooperation and the prospects for deepening intergovernmental relations in various fields. It also reaffirms the willingness of both sides to enhance their interaction within international organizations and to jointly address relevant global and regional issues.
In the presence of the Presidents, eight bilateral documents were signed in the fields of finance, education, culture and other areas of intergovernmental cooperation. These include:
- An intergovernmental agreement on the establishment and activities of the "Samarkand French Alliance."
- Intergovernmental financial protocols for the improvement of Uzbekistan's drinking water infrastructure (Phases 1 and 2).
- Protocol amending and supplementing the Intergovernmental Agreement on the establishment and activities of the French Development Agency and "PROPARCO" in Uzbekistan.
- Declaration on cooperation between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs in the field of diplomatic staff training.
- Protocol on cooperation in the pre-school, school, vocational and higher education.
- Declaration on cooperation in the field of cultural heritage.
- Agreement on cooperation in the field of vocational and technical education.
Declarations on cooperation between the Uzbek Fund for the Development of Culture and the Arts and the Suez and Bouygues companies were also signed during the visit.
