On October 24, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev arrived in Kashkadarya region to get acquainted with the progress of regional development.
Addressing regional development issues through filed visits, based on dialogue with people and studying their opinions, is an integral part of the policy pursued by the President of Uzbekistan. The main purpose of the visits to the regions is to improve the living standards of the villagers, industrialize the regions, increase employment and improve social conditions.
These features were also manifested during the visit to Kashkadarya region, which began with a visit to the garment factory of the "Sulton Tex Group" cluster.
The enterprise was put into operation last year as a result of a project worth $8 million 200 thousand. Thanks to modern technologies and equipment, a production capacity of 5 million units of sewn and knitted products per year has been created.
It is worth noting that the cluster has established exports according to the principle of "new products - new country". Today, high-quality goods are exported to countries such as the USA, Canada, Poland, Singapore and Russia. Accordingly, high income and labour productivity indicators are achieved. About 3,000 people work in the entire cluster chain, from cotton cultivation to the production of finished goods.
The President familiarized himself with the operation of the company. The importance of such projects for the region's economy and employment was emphasized. It was pointed out to the responsible officials that the opportunities in this area are not fully exploited.
“Creating decent living conditions for the rural population, should be the basis of our reforms," Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.
Kashkadarya is the largest producer of cotton in the country. But the volume of processing and transformation of raw materials into finished products does not match this potential. If we set up fabric production and dyeing, we could employ an additional 60,000 young men and women in the districts.
To this end, Sulton Styles is implementing the "20 Thousand Entrepreneurs - 500 Thousand Qualified Specialists" program. A practical monocenter has been set up to train unemployed people in the textile industry. This is a two-stage process: first, the women are trained in the use of company’s machinery and equipment, as well as in health and safety rules. In the next stage, they are paired with mentors and acquire practical knowledge and skills directly in the workplace.
Tourism development projects in Shakhrisabz, Kitab and Kamashi districts were presented to the President. Instructions were given on further development of infrastructure in the villages, their inclusion in tourist routes, and the expansion of income sources for the residents.
