The President of Uzbekistan launched the autumn tree planting season within the framework of the “Yashil Makon” (Green Space) project, planting saplings together with the public during a visit to Oqtepa and Bogzor makhallas of Chilanzar district in Tashkent.
At the initiative of the President, planting trees and increasing green areas is turning into a significant movement. This season, it is planned to plant 85 million saplings. The Forestry Agency will deliver 200 saplings to each makhalla free of charge. Moreover, from October 15, sapling fairs will be organized in all districts and makhallas.
The progress of preparations for the autumn/winter season was discussed in a conversation with makhalla residents.
“The purpose of our visit today is to see what conclusions have been made since last year”, the President said. “We made the necessary decisions and allocated substantial funds for this purpose. Technologies and specialists were brought from abroad. We have also trained workers in the sphere and increased their salaries. Now, I have given the leaders a new instruction – to visit every makhalla, every apartment building, school, hospital and ensure they have a heat supply. Most importantly, we will establish public control in this area. At the same time, it is necessary to improve the energy-saving culture. People like you, who have seen a lot, representatives of the intelligentsia, should set an example and help the state in this matter.
Public representatives highly appreciated the preparations for the autumn/winter period and noted that they would conserve heat in their homes and institutions.
