The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev together with the Presidents of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin launched the Russian natural gas supplies to Uzbekistan through the territory of Kazakhstan.

At the ceremony held via teleconference, the President of Uzbekistan expressed appreciation to the leaders of Kazakhstan and Russia for their personal support for implementing this project. He separately thanked the specialists who took part in the organization of gas supplies in the shortest possible time, the reconstruction of the main gas pipeline section, the modernization of compressor stations and the construction of a new gas metering station “Beineu”.

It was emphasized that the launched import of Russian gas in reverse mode is of strategic importance to Uzbekistan. This project is a breakthrough step in ensuring the energy security of our country, diversifying guaranteed sources of “blue fuel” supplies, providing additional volumes to cover seasonal fluctuations in gas consumption, reliable and uninterrupted supply of gas and electricity to the population.

The sides expressed confidence that the implementation of such a large-scale project and its results will serve to further strengthen relations between the three countries.
