On September 29, as part of the working visit to Germany, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev attended the meeting of the heads of state of Central Asia with the Federal President of Germany Frank‑Walter Steinmeier.
The President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, and the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov also attended the event.
At the meeting, issues of strengthening constructive political dialogue, enhancing trade and economics, transport and communications, cultural and humanitarian collaboration were discussed.
The views were also exchanged on the current aspects of ensuring regional security and sustainable development, including within the framework of European Union programs.
The President of Uzbekistan, during his speech, focused on the prospects for interaction in the “Central Asia – Germany” format. The primary attention was paid to priority areas of practical partnership, primarily in high technology and innovative development, transport communications, green energy, vocational education, and active cultural and academic exchanges.
The expansion of the presence of leading German companies and banks in Uzbekistan was noted with deep satisfaction. There has been a growing interest among Uzbekistan’s youth in learning the German language. Today, almost 300 thousand schoolchildren and students study it.
Following the conversation, the Federal President of Germany congratulated the Leader of Uzbekistan on successfully holding a unique cultural and historical heritage exhibition in the world-famous James Simon Gallery in Berlin. In just a few months, over 200 thousand residents and guests of Berlin visited the exhibition.
