On September 19, on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly session in New York, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with the President of the Republic of Korea Yoon Suk Yeol.
During the meeting, the Presidents considered issues of further strengthening Uzbek-South Korean relations of special strategic partnership and expanding multifaceted cooperation.
The steady development of bilateral ties, rooted in the historical bonds of friendship, similar mentality, traditions, and values was noted with a particular satisfaction.
The President of Uzbekistan dwelt specifically on the formation of a new economic agenda for strategic partnership with the Republic of Korea.
The indicators of mutual trade and investment have been steadily growing in recent years. Last year, the trade turnover increased by 24%. Approximately, one thousand joint ventures are operating in our country with the volume of Korean investments exceeding $7 billion.
A high assessment was given to the long-term fruitful partnership with the Korea International Cooperation Agency, Korea Eximbank and its funds with the total portfolio of projects amounting to more than $3 billion.
During the meeting, the priority areas of practical interaction, such as the expansion of technological and investment partnership with leading South Korean companies, acceleration of socially important programs in education and health care, promotion of joint projects in infrastructure and green energy, digitalization, personnel training and other areas were defined.
Following the talks, the Head of our state invited the President of the Republic of Korea Yoon Suk Yeol to pay a state visit to Uzbekistan.
