The program of President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev's visit to Dushanbe began with a meeting with the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rakhmon.

The sides discussed topical issues of further consolidating Uzbek-Tajik relations of strategic partnership and alliance.

Particular attention was paid to practical aspects of implementing the agreements at the highest level, primarily to the promotion of cooperative projects in priority sectors of the economy and to the expansion of the cultural and humanitarian exchange.

In this regard, the productive activity of the joint intergovernmental commission was welcomed.

During the meeting, the presidents exchanged views on the issues included in the agenda of the next Consultative Meeting of Central Asian Leaders and the Summit of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea.

The other aspects of regional interaction were also considered.
