President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and his spouse arrived in Fuzuli city on the second day of their state visit to Azerbaijan.

The distinguished guests were received by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and his spouse.

The city was named in honour of the great Azerbaijani poet and thinker Muhammad Fizuli.

Until the nineties of the last century, industry and agriculture developed in Fizuli region. There were libraries, houses of culture, clubs, museums, theatres, parks and other cultural facilities.

In 2020, major restoration work began in Fizuli region and the city of the same name. An international airport and a modern residential complex have already been built in the city. Housing blocks, medical and educational facilities are under construction. The restoration of Fizuli is expected to be completed by 2026.
