On August 16, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev got acquainted with the presentation of projects in the field of transport, energy and industry.
An extensive and convenient transport infrastructure is a key factor and an additional impetus for the country’s development. In recent years, many new road, air, rail and metro facilities have been launched.
One of the current projects is the renovation of the Tashkent-Vostochny airport. Last month, the head of state inspected its construction progress. According to his instructions, the general plan of the airport has been finalized. The total area of the complex will be reduced by 130 hectares, which will lower the costs of its maintenance.
A 4-kilometer runway is currently under construction. The airport will have two terminals - one for VIPs and one for business aviation - as well as a parking area for 25 aircraft, hangars, administrative and service buildings. The airport will also be equipped with modern radio and meteorological systems of Class III-A according to ICAO standards, allowing take-offs and landings even in adverse weather conditions.
With the development of Tashkent, the population and its activities are growing. This is also indicated by an increase in the number of private vehicles. At the same time, the city's roads are becoming increasingly congested.
The solution lies in developing public transport to make it more attractive than private cars. To this end, Tashkent has received new buses and electric buses on the orders of the President. The efficiency of passenger transport has increased, and waiting times for public transport have decreased.
In order to reduce traffic congestion in the city near the last and busiest stations of the Tashkent metro, it is planned to build multi-storey car parks. The aim is to create conditions for people to leave their cars at home and use public transport to get to their destination.
The presentation also touched on the issue of developing the potential of the country's energy sector. Measures are being taken in the capital to increase the resilience of energy systems to emergency situations and to introduce renewable energy sources.
In the area of alternative energy, 33 projects with a total capacity of 13,777 megawatts have been developed. At the same time, work is underway to improve the electricity supply infrastructure and increase its resilience to weather conditions, to create back-up capacity and to manage consumption in an 'smart' way.
Information is also provided on indicators and plans for the development of industry in Tashkent.
Today, industry accounts for more than 34 percent of the capital's economy. Last year, products worth 110 trillion Uzbek soums were produced. Growth rates were particularly high in the food, metallurgical and textile industries.
In order to expand production capacities, it is proposed to transfer the activities of the Yangikhayot Industrial Technopark to a cluster system. The cluster will cover an area of 500 hectares, house 810 companies and create 100,000 jobs. As a result of the introduction of the cluster system, the quality of products will increase, their cost and transportation costs will decrease.
