The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has held talks with the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov in Ashgabat.

During the meeting, the Leaders discussed topical issues of Uzbek-Turkmen relations of deep strategic partnership based on centuries-old bonds of friendship and good neighborliness between the fraternal peoples.

The sides noted with satisfaction the expansion of practical interaction in all areas.

Agreements at the highest level are being successfully implemented. Contacts between Governments, Ministries and Agencies are being carried out on a systematic basis.

The volume of mutual trade is growing, mutually beneficial cooperation in various economic sectors is expanding. The sides noted the need to launch the joint trade zone "Shavat-Dashaguz" in the near future.

The importance of further promoting joint cooperation projects, developing inter-regional exchanges and cultural and humanitarian contacts was stressed.

There was also an in-depth exchange of views on the regional agenda.
