On July 27, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev arrived in Fergana Region to get acquainted with the ongoing work to improve the population's welfare and develop economy.
Developing growth points in each region, creating jobs and sources of income for people is a priority goal of Uzbek state policy. In Altyaryk district of Fergana Region, agriculture is one of the drivers for achieving these goals. The inhabitants of this district have rich traditions of growing and exporting food products.
In the past, a lot of cotton and grain was grown in the district. Based on the idea of our President, the structure of agricultural crops was changed due to the favorable advantages of the region and market requirements. Farmers were given the freedom to choose crops and the necessary support.
In particular, the decrees of Uzbek President on the creation of value chains in the fruit and vegetable sector and introducing a cluster system in the development of viticulture have opened up new opportunities. Farms have been provided with subsidies, and the state encourages producers to introduce advanced technologies. As a result of the conditions created, viticulture has become a significant area, the number of large vine farms is increasing.
In 2020, the “Khairullo Bakhrom Boimatov” farm established a vine plantation on an area of 75 hectares. The President visited this vineyard.
Such grape varieties as " Khusaini", "Kelinbarmok", "Rizamat", "Mercedes" are grown here. Next year it is planned to harvest 3 thousand tons of grapes.
In the past, cotton was also grown on the place of these vineyards, the farmer collected an average of 25 hectares of cotton per hectare. Now the vineyard gives almost 10 times more profit per hectare than cotton.
Besides, it is important that taking into account seasonal workers, the farm provides employment for 700 people. They earn up to 200 thousand Uzbek soums per day.
The President emphasized the need to train young people and unemployed citizens in viticulture, involve them in the production of grapes based on cooperation, and involve compatriots abroad in this process.
The garden is also planted with apple, cherry, apricot seedlings, watermelon, melon, tomatoes, peppers, sweet peppers and other vegetables. It is an additional source of income for the population and export of products.
A refrigerated warehouse with a capacity of 2 thousand tons has been built next to the garden. The production is stored and sorted here and will be exported to Turkey and CIS countries.
The President noted that there are many territories in our country that are climatically favorable for viticulture, and instructed to extend the Altyaryk experience to them and create more vineyards.
