On July 10, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting with the Secretary General of the Commonwealth of Independent States Sergey Lebedev, who is currently staying in our country as head of the observer mission of this Organization.
At the beginning of the meeting, the CIS Secretary General sincerely congratulated the Head of our state on his convincing victory in the presidential elections and wished him well-being and success in ensuring sustainable development and prosperity of the country.
It was emphasized that the elections were held in full compliance with international electoral standards.
It was particularly noted that the high level of voter turnout and the results demonstrated broad popular support and confidence in the ongoing reform program.
The sides also discussed issues of deepening mutually beneficial cooperation within the CIS framework.
In recent years, Uzbekistan has signed more than 40 agreements and joined the activities of 24 sectoral bodies of the Commonwealth. Recently, the first meeting of the Advisory Council of Heads of Election Commissions of the CIS Member States was successfully held in Tashkent.
A particular attention was paid to the implementation of programs and projects aimed at expanding multilateral partnerships.
