On July 3, the preparation and conduct of the forthcoming presidential elections were discussed during the meeting of President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev with the Head of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (OSCE/ODIHR) Mission Ursula Gacek.
The Head of State noted with great satisfaction the constructive dialogue, intensive exchanges, transparent and fruitful co-operation with the OSCE.
ODIHR experts have been involved in the modernization of the national electoral system, including the drafting of the Electoral Code of our country.
An OSCE/ODIHR mission also participated in the observation of the constitutional referendum held on April 30 this year.
During the meeting, there was a detailed exchange of views on various aspects of the conduct of the nationwide referendum in accordance with international standards.
The Head of the ODIHR Mission Ursula Gacek expressed support for the irreversible processes of further deepening of democratic transformations and socio-economic reforms in the new Uzbekistan. The measures taken to hold transparent and fair elections in our country were noted.
