On June 6, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund Kristalina Georgieva in Samarkand.
The issues of further developing multifaceted cooperation in such priority areas as reforms to ensure macroeconomic stability, improve monetary and fiscal policy between Uzbekistan and the International Monetary Fund were discussed.
It was satisfactorily noted that the interaction with the IMF has noticeably intensified in recent years. Over the past few years, more than 70 missions of the Fund have visited Uzbekistan, and expert and technical assistance has been expanding.
The head of the IMF, Kristalina Georgieva, expressed her full support and readiness to facilitate the continuation of irreversible reform program in New Uzbekistan.
Besides, an exchange of views on topical issues of the global economy and sustainable development took place.
This was the end of the President’s trip to Samarkand, and Uzbek Leader returned to Tashkent.
