On June 1, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the Vice President of the World Bank for the Europe and Central Asia region Antonella Bassani.
The issues of further increasing a full-fledged strategic cooperation between Uzbekistan and the World Bank Group on efficient promotion of programs of socio-economic reforms in the New Uzbekistan were considered.
At the outset of the meeting, the Head of our state sincerely congratulated the Vice President Antonella Bassani with an appointment to a high post, wishing a great success.
A huge progress in developing bilateral partnership, accomplished in recent years, was noted with satisfaction. Uzbekistan is one of the largest Bank’s beneficiates. The project portfolio has tripled, and today exceeds $11 billion. Current Partnership Program for 2026 includes priority projects worth $4 billion.
The Worlds Bank renders assistance in bringing about changes in health care, education, agriculture, banking sector, energy, transport, digitalization and others.
A preparation for the Country Climate and Development Reports is ending. A «Country Platform» has been launched with Bank’s participation. It is an effective mechanism, coordinating practical cooperation with development institutes.
The Vice President Antonella Bassani commended the modern level of fruitful cooperation and reaffirmed the Bank’s commitment to a consistent and comprehensive support of the program of irreversible reforms in our country.
The projects for poverty reduction, modernization of rural infrastructure and medium-sized cities, assistance in employment of women and youth, reforming heath care and education in line with key goals for 2030 are at the core of attention.
A particular attention is being paid to green energy, implementation of land reforms, programs of regions’ complex development and state enterprises privatization.
An exchange of views on promotion of regional infrastructure projects in Central Asia also took place.
