On May 5, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov, who is visiting our country to attend the regular meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission.
The issues of further deepening the Uzbek-Kazakh relations of strategic partnership and alliance, expansion of multifaceted cooperation were discussed.
At the beginning of conversation, Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov conveyed sincere greetings and best wishes of the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to the head of our state.
During the meeting, the dynamic development of bilateral relations was noted with satisfaction. In 2022, the trade turnover increased by 18%, and since the beginning of this year by 12%. More than 3 thousand joint ventures are operating. The volumes of goods traffic are increasing. An active humanitarian exchange is continuing.
The President of Uzbekistan gave high assessment to the fruitful outcomes of the meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission, primarily the agreements on the promotion of priority economic projects, including the creation of the International Center for Industrial Cooperation.
A particular attention was paid to enhancing trade and ensuring balanced figures of export-import operations with an aim to reach the target of $10 billion in the nearest future. To this end, the importance of the earliest launch of the foreign trade company was noted.
In addition, the expansion of the investment projects portfolio in such areas as mechanical engineering, energy, mining, transport and logistics, textile, food and other industries was determined a priority.
