On May 5, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a telephone conversation with the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon.
The Tajik President warmly congratulated the head of our state on the successful holding of the national referendum on introducing amendments and additions to the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
During the conversation, a particular attention was paid to the practical implementation of agreements reached at the top level.
The progressive strengthening of Uzbek-Tajik relations of strategic partnership and alliance, as well as the growing dynamics of trade and economic cooperation have been noted with great satisfaction.
The volumes of mutual trade, and the number of joint projects and enterprises are increasing. The construction of cross-border trade and logistics zone is underway. Cultural and humanitarian exchanges remain active - the first Rectors' Forum of the two countries' leading universities took place in Dushanbe in March.
The Presidents of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan noted the importance of thoroughly preparing the agenda for the next session of the Intergovernmental Commission and the second Forum of Regions in order to accelerate ongoing cooperation projects and develop new areas of practical cooperation.
There was an exchange of views on the issues of regional cooperation, including in the context of preparations for the upcoming Fifth Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia.
