On April 26, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the head of the Asian Football Confederation, Sheikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa.

The President sincerely congratulated Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa on his re-election as President of the Continental Confederation, noting his personal contribution to the popularization of this sport in the Asian region.

The fruitful partnership of our country with the Confederation has been underscored. Joint programs and projects are being implemented to develop football, broadly involve youth, and train highly qualified specialists.

Sheikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa highly appreciated the large-scale work carried out in Uzbekistan to comprehensively support amateur and professional football, create a modern infrastructure and educational base. He sincerely congratulated on the successful holding of the Asian Youth Championships in our country and the recent victory of the national team.

During the meeting, issues of further expansion of practical cooperation with the Asian Football Confederation, inter alia, the organization and holding of major events, including women's and youth championships, the promotion of this sport, the introduction of best practices and the provision of methodological assistance, and training of coaches, were considered.
