On April 12, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received a member of PRC State Council, Minister of Foreign Affairs Qin Gang who arrived in our country to attend the regular Meeting of Foreign Ministers of Afghanistan's Neighboring Countries.
The sides considered current issues of further deepening the Uzbek-Chinese relations of comprehensive strategic partnership and expanding multi-faceted cooperation.
At the outset, Foreign Minister Qin Gang conveyed sincere greetings and best wishes of the Chinese President Xi Jinping to our President.
Over the past few years, trade turnover has doubled, the number of joint ventures and projects has tripled, and $11 billion of Chinese investments have been attracted. After the pandemic, with the restoration of regular flights, the contacts between the regions, as well as educational, cultural and humanitarian exchanges have intensified.
The Leader of Uzbekistan noted the importance of thorough preparation for the upcoming state visit to China and the Central Asia - China Summit.
There was also an exchange of views on the international and regional agenda.
The parties stressed the importance of soonest execution of Uzbekistan-Kyrgyzstan-China railroad construction project, the technical documentation for which is currently under preparation.
Special attention was paid to the necessity of continuing the close coordination of issues related to peaceful settlement of the situation in Afghanistan and providing practical assistance in the socio-economic development of this country.
