On March 15, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting with the President of the Republic of Turkiye Recep Tayyip Erdogan on his arrival in Ankara.
The Uzbek Leader personally expressed his deep condolences to the Turkish Leader in connection with the consequences of devastating earthquakes that struck the southeastern provinces of the country last month. A full support for the reconstruction of the affected provinces and the construction of new infrastructure has been expressed.
Meanwhile, the President of Turkey once again sincerely thanked the President and the people of Uzbekistan for their fraternal help in overcoming the consequences of the natural disaster, their active participation in rescue work and the provision of humanitarian aid to the victims.
The sides expressed confidence in the upcoming extraordinary summit of the Organization of Turkic States scheduled for March 16 as a vivid demonstration of solidarity and brotherly bonds of the countries within the Organization.
Following the meeting, the dynamic development of Uzbek-Turkish relations of comprehensive strategic partnership has been satisfactorily noted.
The bilateral trade volume has been increasing, 370 new enterprises were established last year. Over the past six years, Turkish investments in the economy of Uzbekistan has amounted to more than $3.5 billion.
The major projects are being implemented in energy, industry, agriculture, building materials, light industry and others.
A schedule of upcoming high-level events, including the preparations for the next meeting of the Strategic Cooperation Council has been considered.
The meeting of two Presidents took place in a traditionally open, confidential and friendly atmosphere.
At the end of the meeting, the Vice President of the Republic of Turkiye Fuat Oktay was awarded the order "Dustlik" for his great contribution to the comprehensive development of multifaceted and mutually beneficial relations between Uzbekistan and Turkiye.
