On 6 March, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting with members of the Legislative Chamber, the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, and the leadership of the Supreme Court.
Following the studies of proposals suggested by the people of Uzbekistan on introducing amendments and additions to the Constitution, the consultations took place at the meeting.
The deputies have thoroughly analyzed each of more than 200 thousand proposals suggested by the public, in doing so, the international experience was taken into account, as well as leading specialists and experts from various spheres were involved.
A final version of the draft Constitutional Law on Amendments and Additions to the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan has been prepared following months of study.
Since the draft law contains the most essential changes in the socio-economic and political spheres as well as State administration, the deputies are holding consultations with the authorities that have the right of legislative initiative as defined in article 83 of the Constitution before submitting the draft law to a referendum.
In this process, the Parliament, the Government and public representatives put forward their opinions and proposals on the draft law.
It was noted that the Constitutional Court shall additionally consider the draft law draw the conclusion.
The consultations will continue.
